2017 ISER/BrightFocus Glaucoma Symposium

The International Society for Eye Research (ISER) and BrightFocus hosted the 2017 Glaucoma Symposium in Atlanta, Georgia on October 5-8, 2017. The symposium brought together leaders in the field of glaucoma and focused on “Basic Science Catalyzing Treatments for Glaucoma.”

The four-day event consisted of 56 oral abstract presentations, six world-class keynote lectures, and 65 poster presentations, and event attendance far exceeded initial expectations. Robert Nickells, PhD, a Professor within the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS), played a key role in the symposium as part of the three-person planning committee. DOVS was proud to participate as an official Travel Award Grant Sponsor.
Approximately half of DOVS faculty members are actively engaged in research. Events such as the ISER/BrightFocus Glaucoma Symposium reflect the spirit of and commitment to sight-saving research that is essential to the DOVS mission.
