Each winter, our Oculoplastics faculty and fellows present a multiphasic Oculoplastics Course. The course comprises two full-days of surgical training featuring short presentations by oculoplastics faculty and hands-on surgery experience where residents practice procedures on fresh cadaver heads. These sessions are wonderful surgical experiences designed so that each basic oculoplastics procedure is taught over two years, with the most important procedures reviewed more than once. Additionally, with the faculty-to-resident ratio of one to three, residents are able to work one-on-one with faculty on particular skills. The third year of the cycle is a full-day conference focusing on orbital anatomy and case presentations. A nationally prominent oculoplastics Visiting Professor begins the conference with a Grand Rounds presentation and participates with faculty and residents in the remainder of the conference. This event is a forum to bring together alumni, regional practitioners and our UW colleagues for information sharing and fellowship.
