Paul Kaufman, MD, professor and chair emeritus, will be presented with The Endre A. Balazs Prize by the International Society for Eye Research (ISER) at the upcoming Biennial Meeting in Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK, September 9 – 13, 2018.
ISER awards four International prizes that are presented in even-numbered years at the Biennial Meeting. The Endre A. Balazs Prize honors a distinguished scientist whose outstanding contributions provide significant progress in the field of experimental eye research. Dr. Balazs was one of fourteen scientists who came together in 1968 to discuss the possibility of establishing an international organization to support vision research, which eventually became ISER. In 1984, ISER established the Endre A. Balazs Prize in his honor.
