Virtual Saving Sight Session // Artificial Intelligence in Eye Care/Research
March 24 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Free and open to the public, this community-centric event is modeled after the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health’s “Mini-Med School” programs. Our 2022 Virtual Saving Sight Session is presented by the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Wisconsin.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN EYE CARE/RESEARCH
Amitha Domalpally, MD, PhD is the Research Director of the Wisconsin Reading Center, one of the world’s leading diagnostic imaging centers for both patient diagnosis and clinical trials. Her work investigates clinical trial imaging endpoints for retinal diseases, with a focus on employing new imaging techniques to understand the natural history and prognostic markers of diseases such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, and many others. She is also the Director of the A-EYE unit and is involved in development of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms that can automate retinal imaging diagnostics, disease clarification and identify risk markers. Retinal AI studies have the potential to provide insight into systemic diseases such as Alzheimer’s and cardiovascular diseases.
