The UW Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is offering UW Health, UW Medical Foundation, and/or UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health employees the opportunity to consider LASIK (Laser Refractive Surgery) at nearly half-price. The surgery will be performed by one of the senior ophthalmology residents (PGY-4) in the coming year (exact date of surgery to be determined).
Dr. Sarah Nehls, one of our faculty attending physicians with specialty training in cornea and refractive surgery, will directly supervise the entire procedure. The preoperative and postoperative care will also be under the direct supervision of Dr. Nehls.
The cost of the surgery, should you be a candidate for LASIK eye surgery, is normally $2,125 per eye. If you elect to have a senior ophthalmology resident perform the procedure, the cost will be discounted to $1,075 per eye. Both eyes are routinely treated, so this would represent a total cost savings of $2,100. Although insurance plans do not cover LASIK, it is an itemized tax deduction and a qualified Flexible Spending Plan expense (FLEX/section-125 plan). CareCredit is also accepted as a form of payment for these services and offers zero percent financing options (exclusions and credit approval do apply). CareCredit is a health and wellness credit card with flexible financing options so you can pay over time for care you want or need.
To determine if you are a candidate for refractive surgery, please call the UW Health Ophthalmology Clinic at Deming Way at 608-265-2020 and press option #2 to schedule your free consultation.
The screening will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024.
