Amitha Domalpally, MD, PhD, joined the DOVS faculty as an assistant professor, effective January 1, 2021. Dr. Domalpally has held the role of research director in the Fundus Photograph Reading Center (FPRC) since April 2007.

I have been fortunate to be part of the Fundus Photograph Reading Center for almost 14 years and have contributed to collaborative clinical research on a global scale. Building on my experience so far, I am ready to take the next step as CHS faculty. This is an amazing opportunity to expand my research collaboration with other faculty within the department. – Dr. Amitha Domalpally

Barbara Blodi, MD, Matthew D. Davis Professor and medical director of the FPRC, added, “Having Dr. Domalpally on the clinical health sciences (CHS) faculty is a major win. In addition to her exceptional research contributions to the Fundus Photograph Reading Center, Amitha now brings her research expertise to the entire Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Amitha is developing a research unit that will focus on artificial intelligence and ocular imaging – a new area of translational research in ophthalmology. Amitha is truly a talented researcher and educator and I welcome her as new faculty!”
