Research Highlights

Dr. Myers is a pioneer in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy and macular edema through photocoagulation. His work confirmed that the treatment reduces the risk of severe visual loss by more than 50%. Any adverse effects of treatment far outweigh the visual loss experienced without treatment. Further work with focal photocoagulation showed that visual loss was substantially reduced in those that suffered from diabetic macular edema and increases the chance of visual improvement. Together his work has been cited over 3800 times.
