Bennett Romanoff, MD

Hedva and I recently moved to Chandler, Arizona after living and practicing for 45 years in Toledo, Ohio. I did not retire however I stopped doing major surgery last year. I am now a part time medical ophthalmologist in Scottsdale/ Mesa with a private practice group. I have no plans to retire as I still love doing what I do. We moved to be closer to our children and grandchildren. Three of our four children live out west.
Over the years in Toledo I was very involved in the community having served on many local boards including the Toledo Opera and the Toledo Symphony Orchestra. I was on the board and president of the Toledo Board of Jewish Education as well as president of Congregation B’nai Israel. I was also the North American medical chair of the Western Galilee Medical Center in northern Israel for many years.
Professionally, I was chair of the department of ophthalmology at Promedica Flower Hospital since the 1990’s and I was on the board and president of the Lucas County/ Toledo Academy of Medicine. I was a frequent lecturer in the field of ophthalmology locally and abroad. I taught optical physics and refracting in the ophthalmology residency program at the University of Toledo College of Medicine until 1985. I was on the clinical faculty there for 42 years. I proctored family practice residents in 3 family practice residencies programs in the Toledo area for over 43 years. I have served on the DOVS alumni board for many years and was president for two years.
