Your Partners in Saving Sight.

Specialized eye care for every patient.

Referral Resources

The department also has referral tablets with listings of all locations and providers.

A Tradition of Care

Ophthalmologists from the University of Wisconsin have been studying eye diseases and offering specialized patient care since 1925. Our staff includes sub-specialists who are national leaders in treating glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, eye tumors, macular degeneration and other eye diseases, and our opticians and ophthalmologists also provide routine and preventive eye care. Whatever your referral needs may be, our UW doctors work closely with local eye care professionals, extending the access to eye care that patients from your practice can receive.

In addition to developing sight-saving tests and treatments, department members are also studying the way the eye changes with age, improving corneal transplantation and providing advanced training for ophthalmologists throughout the country.

We are available for consults and are completing new patient evaluations both virtually and in person. We have dramatically increased our capacity for telehealth and video visits, and we are pleased to be able to use this platform as we continue to partner with you in caring for patients.

Expert reports by internationally recognized eye pathologists

The UW Eye Pathology Lab is the only dedicated eye pathology lab in Wisconsin and one of only a handful of dedicated eye laboratories in the nation. Referring pathologists and ophthalmologists benefit from concise, comprehensive, and timely lab reports from eye pathologists who are expertly trained and dedicated exclusively to the evaluation and assessment of ocular and adnexal tissue.

Electrophysiology and Color Vision Testing

Objective evaluation of visual system functioning

Our Outer Retinal Function Tests demonstrate the functional integrity of the mid- and outer-retinal layers and retinal pigment layer to light stimuli under conditions of light and dark adaptation, and subsequent tests in the Higher Visual Pathways by VEP list can be done to evaluate the responses of the more central visual portion of the visual system. We also offer 100 Hue and Lantern testing for color vision.

Scleral Contact Lenses

Breaking the mold with corneal disease treatment

Dr. Karina Conlin and Dr. Amy Walker are the scleral contact lens experts at UW Health. They work closely with cornea service faculty who recommend scleral lenses for the treatment of various corneal conditions.  Drs. Conlin and Walker are now certified in providing EyePrintPRO™ molded scleral devices—making UW Health Eye Clinics only one of two locations in the state to offer this service.
