The Global Ophthalmology Initiative offers opportunities for DOVS and its partnering institutions to further faculty involvement in the glocalization process. Faculty can engage in developing a global Basic Science Lecture; leading residency rotations to Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital, New Delhi, India, Tzu Chi Eye Center, University of Santo Tomas and Hospital, and Cardinal Santos Medical Center, Manila, Philippines; sponsoring the visit of an internationally-renowned guest speaker; mentoring a global observer, medical students or residents on a global research project, or presenting a global collaborative project at national and international conferences.
The Visiting Professor Lecture Series invites leaders in the field of ophthalmology and visual sciences to talk about emerging topics related to the latest research, treatment protocols, patient care, academic scholarship, and other areas. These experts invited to present have all conducted important research and have extensive clinical experience. All events are open to the public. This year, four one-hour lectures will be hosted in-person. They are offered for free CME credit through the University of Wisconsin–Madison Interprofessional Continuing Education Partnership.
