Our team is our greatest asset. At DOVS, we’re proud to create and engage in diverse initiatives supporting faculty and staff recruitment, advancement, and retention. Our efforts are rooted in our commitment to diversity and are informed by best practices in talent recruitment, selection, growth, and creating a welcoming climate, where innovation and excellence strive. Professional development offerings provide abundant opportunities for faculty to enhance their skills as educators, clinicians, researchers, and active members of the community.
Faculty Track and Promotion
Our faculty are employed within four distinct tracks: Clinical Health Sciences (CHS), Tenured/Tenure, Clinician Teacher (CT), and Clinical Adjunct. These tracks have different policies and requirements for promotion. Consult Tetyana Schneider, Director of Ophthalmology Education and Faculty Development, or see the overview of faculty tracks about your unique track. Promotion templates and sample documents can be reviewed via the SMPH faculty promotion toolkit. Please visit the SMPH HR intranet Policies and Resources Faculty for more faculty-specific resources.
People Enriching People (PEP) Mentorship Program
The PEP Mentorship Program supports the career growth of all members of the DOVS and UW Health Ophthalmology community—faculty, staff, trainees, and learners alike. In collaboration with SMPH’s Office for Faculty Affairs and Development, the program creates mutually beneficial mentorships tailored to individual roles and goals, promoting the career aspirations of the entire DOVS and UW Health Ophthalmology community.
