DOVS Residents Represent Wisconsin Ophthalmology in Washington, D.C.

More than 400 ophthalmologists gathered in Washington, D.C. on April 18-21, 2018, for the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Congressional Advocacy Day and Mid-Year Forum to learn more about politics, policy and practice management and advocate for patients on Capitol Hill.

The Wisconsin Academy of Ophthalmology (WAO) sent a team of advocacy ambassadors that included Jennifer Larson, MD, and Roman Krivochenitser, MD, residents from the UW-Madison Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Drs. Larson and Krivochenitser were joined by Yasemin Sozeri, MD, and Victor Liou, MD, residents from the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Drs. Larson and Krivochenitser did an excellent job engaging with staffers during the legislative visits in both the House and Senate. The Wisconsin team made such an impression that they were awarded one of two inaugural ambassador awards given to states by the AAO. Congratulations to the Wisconsin team!
