Rockford radio station 95.3 The Bull recently organized a Shoeboxes for Soldiers drive, a program that packs up goodies, including toiletries, snacks and thank you letters, and ships them to our troops. The Bull put out a call to local businesses, and UW-Health Eye Clinic – Rockford delivered.
The small staff of 10 filled 50 boxes for the program, which were dropped off at the station on May 2. Thank you notes written by local scout troops and third graders were included as well. In an interview with the station, Susan Powers, RN, clinic manager, notes that the project was particularly personal and touching to the staff, as several have veterans in their families. 95.3 The Bull collected a total of 795 boxes during the drive, which ended May 17.
