The University of Wisconsin Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) was honored to host Dr. Suneeta Dubey, glaucoma specialist and Medical Director at Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital (SCEH) in New Delhi, India, for two days from October 13–14, 2025.
Dr. Dubey serves as Director of Glaucoma Services and Quality Assurance at SCEH, one of India’s leading eye care and training centers. Dr. Dubey’s visit with DOVS included a rich exchange of ideas and experiences through lectures, tours, and meetings with faculty, residents, and researchers.
During her visit, Dr. Dubey delivered a Monday Morning Conference presentation on “Surgical Management of Complex Glaucomas” to an audience of ophthalmology residents, clinical fellows, and faculty. Dr. Dubey also toured the Ocular Pathology Lab, the Surgical Skills Transfer Facility, University Hospital, the Clinical Eye Research Unit, and the Glaucoma Clinic in the UW Health University Station Clinic.

In addition to academic and clinical discussions, Dr. Dubey met with basic science and research faculty and joined residents and faculty for lunches and dinners that fostered collegial exchange.
“The visit was a truly productive and enriching experience,” Dr. Dubey said. “I learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed sharing my experiences with the residents. The basic science research work at the University of Wisconsin is awe-inspiring.”
Dr. Dubey’s visit to DOVS stemmed from an earlier exchange in February 2025, when a DOVS team visited SCEH. During that trip, Dr. Gillian McLellan — a DOVS professor specializing in glaucoma research — became the first basic science researcher from DOVS to rotate at SCEH, strengthening ties between the two institutions. Dr. Dubey’s time in Madison built upon those initial collaborations, further advancing shared goals in clinical training, research, and global eye care.
