Dr. Gillian McLellan and her collaborators recently published an exciting manuscript in PLoS One entitled “A Mutation in LTBP2 Causes Congenital Glaucoma in Domestic Cats (Felis catus).” Glaucoma is a group of diseases characterized by optic nerve damage that represent a leading cause of blindness in humans and animals. This paper reports a mutation in the gene LTBP2 that causes primary congenital glaucoma (PCG) in domestic cats.
