WHOLE EYE OCT

Whole Eye OCT Imaging Study

  • Study Sponsor: Duke University
  • Principal Investigator: Terri Young
  • Study Coordinator: Chris Smith

Study Objective
The purpose of this study is to examine changes in the shape of the back of the eye. The shape of the back of the eye can change from conditions such as being very nearsighted. We will test the hypothesis that there is relative peripheral steepening in progressive myopia.

Inclusion Criteria:
Childhood Myopia — Patients greater than age 8 years and less than age 12 years at time of study enrollment being seen at UW–Madison eye clinics with at least -0.75 D sph refraction. Half of the subjects (17) will have had documented progression of at least -0.50 D in the year prior to study entry to increase the likelihood of capturing progression. Subject must be able to cooperate with study imaging and be able to return every 6 months for 3 years for longitudinal assessment.

Exclusion Criteria:
Media opacities such as cataracts or cornea scars which could impact the quality of the scans. Inability to cooperate with whole eye OCT imaging.
